Elbow River Basin Water Management Plan (updated: March 18, 2008)

Over the past two years, a steering committee of dedicated stakeholders and scientists has been working on developing a water management plan for the Elbow River basin. On March 17, 2008, the second draft of the Elbow River Basin Water Management Plan was released for review by stakeholders and the general public. Any interested party or individual within the basin is invited to review the draft and provide feedback to feedback@erwp.org or complete the on-line survey by April 18, 2008. Bow Basin Watershed Management Plan

The Bow River Basin Council (BRBC) has been leading the development of the Bow Basin Watershed Management Plan (BBWMP). Phase One of the BBWMP focuses largely on issues of surface water quality and has the following objectives:
  • Recommend site-specific water quality objectives (WQOs) for key parameters for the
    • Bow River mainstem,
    • Nose Creek and West Nose Creek mainstems, and
    • Elbow River mainstem from Glenmore Dam upstream.
  • Recommend an action plan and implementation plan to help meet the desired outcomes and the recommended WQO thresholds and targets.
The BBWMP has been completed and is now available for review by the public.
